In this podcast, we take you into Breda's past. We go way back in time to arrive at the roots of our royal house, which originated here. The podcast is about Het Speelhuis (the playhouse), which came to life through 4 half-brothers.

De Bastard

How negative that sounds, the bastard, it is not actually how the story of Justinus is. He was embraced by his father and, despite his impure origins, recognized as a true van Nassau. An inheritance would never come to him, impossible. But a loving upbringing he did receive.

His brother

Which of the 3, you might think? Here we are referring to Maurits, who always accepted his older bastard brother without pardon and took him into battle for Breda. Justinus owed his military status to Maurits, so eternal gratitude and love between the two ensued.

The Siege

In a period of occupation, mourning and bad prospects, Justinus remained strong. He was the one who helped communicate from Breda while his family was on the outside, unfortunately at a high price.

Het Speelhuis

Together with his older brother Filips, Justinus was already playing games around the Speelhuis, and once it was finished, he also experienced unforgettable times there with his younger brothers, memories that would stay with him forever.
